Former striker Troy Deeney has suggested Arsenal need not applaud Liverpool for winning the Premier League title this season when the two sides meet next week.
The Reds host the Gunners next week and have traditionally been show a guard of honour. คาสิโนออนไลน์ UFABET ฝากถอนรวดเร็ว เริ่มต้นเล่นง่าย but Deeney believes Mikel Arteta’s side should not have done so.
“Like everything else in modern football, it’s something I can’t understand, to be honest. I think it’s disrespectful. It’s a disgrace to the team that’s standing in line to applaud the champions,” Deeney told The Sun.
“It’s like Chelsea and Arsenal and all the teams that play the champions for the rest of the season are saying. ‘Well done, we’re so happy you beat us.'”
“When my Watford lost to Manchester City in the FA Cup final, we had to stand and applaud them when they received their medals, but if it was after the game then it was fair game.”
“I’ve never been in a ‘line of honour’ situation in my time in the top flight, Watford have never played against a champion, but if I were in that situation I would say no, that’s what Arsenal, and the teams that are close to challenging Liverpool for the title this season, should do next Sunday.”
